We are delighted to have attracted to our Invest in Schools Summit two individuals who are among the most knowledgeable in the United States about federal funding for education. We will hear from the Department of Education and a leading US think tank focused on education at Georgetown University. Both recognize an unmet need to bring together those focused on rebuilding public schools.
Stephen Q, Cornman, Ph.D. Senior Survey Director, Financial Surveys National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). His office is responsible for tracking where federal funds go and how they are used, as well as analyzing and maintaining the statistics on K12 funding for the Department of Education.
Joining him is Phyllis Jordan, the Editorial Director of FutureEd, an independent think tank at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy focused on excellence, equity, and efficiency in K-12 and higher education on behalf of disadvantaged youth. Having written extensively in this area, her work has been widely cited in research and academic articles and offers an expansive and deep analysis of what is occurring.
